Consultation room with the blue arched wall at Imala Orthodontics

Your smile journey starts here

Know what to expect before your first visit

At Imala Orthodontics, you’ll get a digital scan, an evaluation with Dr. India Collier, and a clear explanation of your treatment options, timeline, and cost before you decide what comes next.

What happens at your orthodontic consultation

01

A 3D digital scan

We’ll create a detailed digital scan of your teeth without traditional impression trays.

The scan helps Dr. Collier evaluate your bite, tooth position, and treatment needs.

02

An orthodontic evaluation

Dr. Collier will explain what she sees and whether treatment is recommended now, later, or not at all.

For younger patients, that may simply mean monitoring growth and development until the timing is right.

03

Treatment options that fit your smile

If treatment is recommended, you’ll review the options that may work for your case. Depending on your needs, those could include:

Customized metal or ceramic braces

Clear aligners

You’ll understand why an option is being recommended before you choose.

04

A clear plan before you start

Before you commit to treatment, we’ll review:

Your recommended treatment

Expected treatment length

Appointment frequency

Total cost

Payment options

Any applicable insurance benefits

No guessing and no pressure to decide on the spot.

Clear costs before treatment begins

We want orthodontic care to feel manageable for your family.

At your consultation, our team will explain your expected treatment cost and available payment options before you begin.

We offer flexible payment options to fit your family’s needs, so you’ll know what to expect and what choices are available.

What happens after treatment starts

Every smile journey is unique! Your appointments will be scheduled based on your personalized treatment plan. With advanced digital technology and thoughtful planning, we strive to make each visit efficient while keeping your smile on track.

If something unexpected happens between visits, like a broken bracket or lost retainer, don’t worry. Simply contact our team, and we’ll help determine the best next step. With select appliances made right here in our office, we can often get you smiling again without the wait of an outside lab.

What should you bring?

Before your first visit, complete your new patient forms online, including your medical history and a list of your medications. Please share your dental insurance information before your appointment, if applicable.

For your first visit, bring:

Any recent dental or orthodontic records requested by the practice

Your questions and treatment goals

You don’t need to know whether you want braces or aligners before you arrive. That’s what the consultation is for.

Orthodontic care that works around family life

Scheduling orthodontic appointments can get complicated quickly. Imala Orthodontics works to make visits easier to fit around school, work, sports, and other activities.

When possible, siblings and family members can also coordinate appointments close together. Dr. Collier is a parent herself, so the practice is built with real family schedules in mind.

New Patient FAQs

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. An early evaluation doesn’t automatically mean braces. It helps Dr. Collier monitor development and determine whether treatment is needed now or later.

Plan for approximately one hour. Your consultation may include a digital scan, orthodontic evaluation, discussion of treatment options, and review of your expected timeline and cost.

No. You can schedule an orthodontic consultation directly with Imala Orthodontics. However, we recommend having a recent dental exam and completing any necessary dental work before starting orthodontic treatment. Maintaining regular visits with your general dentist is also important for keeping your smile healthy throughout your journey!

It may be possible in some cases, but treatment timing depends on your diagnosis, treatment plan, and the appliance being recommended. Dr. Collier will explain the next steps at your consultation.

No. Dr. Collier will evaluate your smile first and explain which treatment options may be appropriate for your specific case.

Come in with questions. Leave with a plan.

Start with a digital scan and a conversation with Dr. Collier. You’ll know what she recommends, why she recommends it, and what treatment could look like before you decide.
